Top Five Things Every New Employee Needs to Know

Helpful tips for navigating through your first week at St. Joseph’s Health.

When do we get paid?

You will receive your paycheck on the second and fourth Thursday of every month.

When will I get my employee ID badge, and what do I do if I lose it?

Your Employee ID badge was provided during new hire orientation. If you did not receive your Employee ID badge, your supervisor will give it to you on your first day. However, if you misplace it, you need to visit the Security office for a new one.

What should I wear to work?

If your position does not require you to wear scrubs or another uniform, our dress code is business casual.

Do I have an assigned parking spot?

This varies per campus. Free employee parking is provided in Wayne and Cedar Grove (Just follow employee parking signs)

Paterson employees who plan to drive to work must pay for parking. Once you receive your ID badge, you do have the option of purchasing a transponder at the Main Garage for $20 (cash/debit). A fee will be deducted every paycheck for parking (fees vary depending on salary). You will receive all the necessary forms to fill out at orientation. Alternative Option: Pay daily rate for parking ($9)

What type of security is on campus?

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center has 24 hour security presence. If you need to reach security at any time from any location, dial 973-754-5555. To immediately report a Security incident, please download elerts on your mobile device.
