Personal Protective Equipment
Gloves- protect hands, Latex or Nitrile gloves when handling Blood or blood products
Gown- protect skin and/or clothing, wear gown or apron (scrubs don’t count) whenever there is a risk of splashing.
Face Masks and Respirators– protect mouth/nose from droplets
Respirators (N-95) protect from inhalation of aerosols
Goggles – protect eyes; should fully cover nose and mouth and prevent fluid penetration
Face shields – protect face, mouth, nose, and eyes ( should cover forehead, extend below chin and wrap around side of face)
Scrubs are not PPE!
Personal glasses not a substitute for goggles
